This course explains what UK healthcare regulators mean by insight and remediation, how they are assessed at each stage of a fitness to practise process, and how to plan, gather and present evidence that your practice has changed. It uses worked examples to show the difference between evidence that persuades and evidence that does not, and helps you build a remediation portfolio and plan.
What you will learn
- Explain how insight, remediation and the risk of repetition are used when a regulator decides whether fitness to practise is currently impaired.
- Distinguish between concerns that are generally considered easier to remediate and those that are harder, and explain why.
- Identify the features of strong evidence of remediation: relevant, verified, proportionate and sustained.
- Write a reflective statement that shows genuine insight without minimising, blaming or overclaiming.
- Plan and organise a remediation portfolio, including obtaining informed testimonials.
- Describe how to work with a supervisor and an adviser when building evidence during an investigation.
